Incident Sequence
The pilot reported that the event began when he pulled up from a swath run. At that moment, the engine started losing power. He climbed to an altitude of 300 feet and turned the aircraft back toward the airstrip. However, while en route, the engine experienced a total power loss. The pilot was forced to perform an emergency landing. During the landing, he was unable to bring the aircraft to a stop before it struck trees at the end of the field.
Aftermath
During the subsequent investigation, the land owner where the aircraft came to rest refused to allow the aircraft to be removed from his property. This hindered the investigation. Eventually, the aircraft was moved, but by that time it had already been salvaged. As a result, a complete examination of the aircraft was not possible before it was salvaged.
