Accident Overview
An aircraft experienced a left landing gear collapse while being taxied into the ramp area. According to the pilot, after turning left into the hub area, the landing gear warning horn sounded, and the left gear subsequently collapsed.
Witness Observations
A flight instructor who witnessed the accident stated that the aircraft's taxi speed seemed excessive. The instructor further reported observing the gear bending excessively prior to the collapse.
Post-Accident Inspection
During an inspection conducted by an FAA inspector, the landing gear reportedly showed evidence of having been subjected to heavy sideloading, similar to what might occur during a left turn.
