Accident Details
Approximately halfway through a turnaround maneuver, the pilot observed a loss of engine power and a decrease in manifold pressure of about 5 inches. Due to the proximity of power lines, the pilot was unable to level the wings. Before the pilot could dump the load, the left wing contacted the ground, and the aircraft crashed.
Post-Crash Fire
After the crash, the aircraft began burning and was subsequently demolished by fire.
Investigation Findings
The pilot suspected that a turbocharger malfunction caused the loss of engine power. However, due to impact and fire damage, this suspected cause could not be verified.
