Event Summary
During the takeoff phase, the engine began losing power when the aircraft reached an altitude of about 200 feet above ground level. The pilot reacted by applying carburetor heat and beginning a descent. The engine power was restored for approximately five seconds, after which all power was lost. The pilot then performed a forced landing straight ahead, touching down in a wooded area that was swampy. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.

An investigation of the aircraft and engine did not reveal any evidence of a mechanical failure that occurred before impact.
