Disappearance and Initial Search
On January 27, 1984, an aircraft departed at 1330 Central Standard Time for a planned two-hour local flight and failed to return. The following day, a fisherman on Lake Meredith discovered an aircraft wheel floating in the water. Investigation revealed that the wheel bore the same part numbers and paint scheme as the missing aircraft.
Subsequent Discoveries
On January 29, 1984, a jacket was found floating in the lake near the location where the wheel had been sighted. The pilot was known to own a similar jacket. Search efforts, including dive teams, were conducted from January 28 through February 2 but did not locate the aircraft or any additional debris.
Investigation
No witnesses to the event were identified. The wreckage and the pilot's whereabouts remain unknown as of the conclusion of the search.
