Accident Sequence
A go-around was initiated approximately midfield at a height estimated by a witness as six inches above the runway. The aircraft was between 20 and 50 feet above the trees when it rolled into a steep right angle of bank, with the nose dropping simultaneously. At impact, the landing gear were in transit and the flaps were partially extended. A post-crash fire destroyed the wreckage.
Weather Conditions
On the morning of the accident, the pilot obtained a weather briefing that included warnings of occasional severe turbulence below 10,000 feet, as well as moderate icing in clouds, as indicated by SIGMET Charlie 7. At the time of the accident, winds were from 040 degrees at 20 knots, gusting to 40 knots.
Wreckage
The post-crash fire consumed the wreckage, leaving no significant structural remains.
