Incident Overview
At 0052, shortly after departing Big Cypress, Florida, the pilot contacted West Palm Beach Tower and requested advisories to Pahokee Airport. The controller requested the flight's position, but the pilot was uncertain of his location.
Coordination and Vectors
The tower controller contacted Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center for assistance, and the aircraft was located 35 miles northwest of Miami, Florida. Vectors were provided to Pahokee, Florida.
Ditching
At 0123, when the aircraft was on an approach to the Pahokee Airport, the pilot advised that he was out of fuel and was ditching. The aircraft was ditched in Lake Okeechobee.
