Incident Overview
According to a witness, the aircraft was observed from taxi through takeoff and then from base leg throughout the landing. On the base leg, the landing gear was down. The witness noted that the pilot flew a low and short final approach. The pilot cut power short of the runway, and the aircraft dropped from approximately 20 feet above ground level.
Landing and Post-Landing Events
After landing, the aircraft veered to the left and came to a stop facing 180 degrees from the original landing direction. The right main landing gear collapsed during the sequence.
Pilot Statement
The pilot reported that a hydraulic fitting failed during the flight, resulting in the loss of all hydraulic fluid.
