Landing and Go-Around
During the landing attempt, the pilot experienced a porpoise that increased in severity. He responded by applying full power, raising the nose, and beginning a go-around. During the go-around, the stall warning horn sounded. The pilot reported that the carburetor heat had been left on and the flaps were set to a 2/3 extended position.
Maneuvering and Collision
As the go-around continued, the pilot maneuvered the aircraft to avoid a pole. Immediately after, the left wing tip struck snow-covered terrain. The aircraft then cartwheeled and came to a stop. The airport elevation was 6202 feet.

The pilot had recently earned his private pilot certificate and had just completed a checkout in the same make and model of aircraft.
