Accident Sequence
Prior to the accident, the owner and pilot of the helicopter had reportedly flown low over a local baseball game, an action commonly referred to as "buzzing." Shortly after this incident, witnesses observed the helicopter maneuvering over a wooded area. The aircraft entered a nose-high attitude, then rolled or banked, and subsequently descended into the trees, where it crashed.
Aircraft Inspection
An inspection of the helicopter after the crash revealed no preimpact mechanical discrepancies. However, the annual inspection required for the aircraft was found to be overdue. No other issues with the airframe or systems were identified.
Pilot Toxicology
A blood sample taken from the pilot was tested and showed an alcohol level of 0.25%. This value is several times the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle in many jurisdictions. No further toxicological findings were reported.
