What happened
The pilot reported that the right engine failed at an altitude of approximately 300 feet above ground level during the initial climb phase. Following the failure, the pilot feathered the propeller on the affected side to reduce drag. The aircraft began to yaw toward the right, prompting the pilot to reduce power on the left engine to maintain directional control.
The pilot elected to execute a forced landing straight ahead in an open field. During the approach and touchdown, the airplane struck a small pine tree. The impact caused the aircraft to slide sideways across the ground, resulting in the collapse of the landing gear.
The investigation
A post-accident inspection was conducted on the right engine to determine the cause of the power loss. The examination revealed no mechanical discrepancies or defects that would explain a sudden loss of power during flight.
