Incident Overview
According to a state police report, the pilot assaulted his wife prior to the flight. He then loaded his two children into the aircraft and flew to a refueling area. After refueling, the pilot took off and subsequently crashed approximately one mile north of the departure runway.
Witness Account
A witness reported that after the aircraft lifted off the runway, it rose sharply and appeared to almost stall. The aircraft then regained a level flight attitude at about 100 to 150 feet above ground level before it disappeared from the witness's view. Shortly after, the aircraft crashed.
Toxicology Results
A blood test conducted on the pilot revealed an alcohol level of 0.128%.
