Overview
An aircraft experienced a landing incident while on final approach to runway 30 at Porterville Airport. The event occurred as the aircraft flared for landing.
Sequence of Events
During the final approach, the aircraft's left wheel and left wing made contact with the runway surface. This contact caused the aircraft to bounce into the air. Subsequently, the aircraft stalled and crashed to the left of the runway. The aircraft came to rest on the grass off the runway.
Pilot's Account
The pilot stated that a gust of wind pitched the nose of the aircraft upward. In response, the pilot applied full power, but the aircraft did not accelerate. The nose remained high, and the aircraft began to roll to the left with the left wing low. The aircraft then bounced off the runway into the air before settling back to the ground and coming to rest in the grass adjacent to the runway.
