Engine Failure During Manuevering Leads to Crash and Post-Impact Fire (N8624L)

Incident Summary

While maneuvering during a swath to a field, the engine quit. The pilot had been operating the aircraft for approximately half an hour prior to the loss of power. The pilot stated that he visually checked the fuel level.

Pilot Actions

After the engine failure, the pilot reported that he could not maintain level flight and nosed the aircraft over to avoid stalling.

Post-Accident Inspection

An inspection of the aircraft engine revealed no mechanical failure or pre-impact malfunction. The aircraft struck the ground in a nose-low attitude and was destroyed by post-impact fire.
