What happened
The pilot initiated the flight by obtaining a weather briefing and filing an instrument flight rules (IFR) plan with Massena Flight Service Station. The initial portion of the journey proceeded without incident. While en route, Boston Center cleared the aircraft for a non-direction beacon approach at Potsdam.
Upon sighting the airport, the pilot cancelled the IFR flight plan and transitioned to visual flight rules to continue toward the destination. During the final phase of the approach, the pilot began the landing checklist and extended the flaps to 25 degrees.
As N3548V crossed the runway threshold, a stall warning horn sounded. The pilot immediately performed a physical check of all flight controls. According to the pilot's account, the landing gear handle was also verified during this sequence. Shortly before the aircraft made contact with the runway surface, the landing gear warning horn activated.
