Incident Overview
During a taxi maneuver, an aircraft collided with a Cushman scooter. According to a witness, the scooter driver looked up and saw the aircraft taxiing. The driver then executed a hard right turn, which caused him to be thrown off the scooter. The scooter and its driver were struck separately by the aircraft.
Sequence of Events
The scooter made contact with the passenger side of the aircraft, behind the exhaust pipe. The driver rolled under the aircraft, and the aircraft subsequently rolled over him. The scooter's approach to the aircraft was made at approximately a 45-degree angle from the right rear of the aircraft. This positioning made it virtually impossible for the pilot to see the vehicle. The pilot's first indication of the collision was the noise of the impact.
Outcome
The victim succumbed to injuries approximately two hours after the mishap.
