What happened
During the execution of an aerial applications maneuver, the aircraft's engine ceased operating. The pilot was compelled to execute a forced landing within an orchard situated between rows of apple trees.
The investigation
Following the incident, a thorough inspection of both the engine and the airframe was conducted to identify any mechanical anomalies or structural damage. The examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities with the general condition of the aircraft components.
The only notable defect identified during the post-accident assessment was related to the fuel system. Specifically, the main fuel filter was found to be extremely dirty and partially clogged. To further assess the engine's functionality after the event, a short test run was performed on the ground.
Findings
The investigation determined that the condition of the fuel filter was the critical factor in the loss of power. The partial clogging restricted fuel flow, leading to the engine stopping during the maneuver. No other mechanical failures or contributing factors were found during the inspection.
