Overview
Following a 30-minute flight, the aircraft's engine lost power, necessitating a forced landing off the airport. Witnesses at the accident site did not observe any fuel in the tanks or indications of fuel spillage.
Inspection Findings
A subsequent inspection of the engine did not reveal any anomalies. A certified repair station examined the carburetor, engine-driven fuel pump, and electric boost pump. During static testing, the boost pump discharged fuel from the overboard line.
Pilot Report
According to the pilot, a visual pre-flight inspection of the main fuel tanks indicated approximately 28 gallons of fuel. The pilot estimated 10 gallons in the auxiliary tank based on a previous check.
