Accident Overview
Witnesses reported seeing three aircraft flying in a loose trail formation at low altitude in the vicinity of the pilot's private farm strip. The last aircraft in the formation, bearing registration N9060P, separated from the formation by breaking to the left. It then executed a steep pull-up maneuver.
Sequence of Events
After a brief climb, the nose of the aircraft dropped, and the aircraft entered a dive toward the ground. The impact occurred with the aircraft in a nose-low attitude.
Post-Accident Examination
A post-accident examination of the airframe and engine was conducted. No evidence of any preimpact failure or malfunction was found.
