Overview
A Cessna 170 experienced a ground loop and collided with a parked glider after a post-maintenance test flight. The incident occurred when the student pilot and owner of the aircraft was allowed to fly and land the airplane.
Flight and Landing
According to the pilot, a post-maintenance test flight was performed approximately 45 minutes before the landing. The pilot stated that he allowed the right seat passenger, a student pilot and owner of the Cessna 170, to fly and land the aircraft. Upon landing, the pilot noticed the nose of the aircraft was not high enough and reminded the passenger that he was flying a taildragger. The aircraft was hopping but remained under directional control.
Collision
The aircraft then veered to the right, followed by a ground loop. Power was applied afterwards by the passenger, and the aircraft collided with a parked glider.
