Accident Overview
According to the passenger, after takeoff the aircraft climbed to approximately 300 feet. The pilot then executed a right turn. During the turn, the pilot exclaimed, 'We're losing it, we're losing it.' Subsequently, the aircraft descended and impacted the ground.
Pilot and Passenger Accounts
The passenger stated they did not recall any decrease in engine power during the flight. The pilot had no recollection of the occurrence.
Aircraft Examination
A post-accident examination of the aircraft did not disclose evidence of mechanical malfunction. The carburetor heat was found in the "on" position.
