Incident Overview
A helicopter crashed into trees after the pilot reported experiencing a "large vibration" shortly after takeoff. The pilot stated that he suspected a possible bird strike or bearing failure. According to the pilot, the engine did not fail; however, witnesses observed the helicopter flying at low altitude before the crash and believed the engine was losing power.
Fuel and Mechanical Examination
Approximately 1.5 quarts of fuel were found in the helicopter's fuel tank. No evidence of a fuel leak or spill was discovered. A number of maintenance discrepancies were noted during the post-accident examination, but no preimpact part failure or malfunction was verified.
Pilot Toxicology
A check of the pilot's blood showed an alcohol level of 0.14%.

The investigation is ongoing. No probable cause has been determined at this time.
