Accident Sequence
While on final approach, the aircraft collided with a pole and subsequently crashed into a flooded field. The exact circumstances leading to the collision remain unclear due to the pilot's inability to recall details after the impact.
Pilot Statement
The pilot reported that he had flown a 20-minute local VFR flight prior to the accident. He stated that he suffered head injuries and was unable to remember any details of the accident after the aircraft struck the pole.
Engine Examination
Examination of the engine revealed minor impact damage, along with mud and rust deposits. The right magneto was found to be rusted shut, preventing normal operation.
Propeller Examination
Inspection of the propeller showed one blade bent forward and the other blade damaged as a result of a strike.
Post-Accident Engine Test
The engine was removed and run on a test stand after the engine oil was changed and the right magneto replaced. The engine operated without any problems during the test.
