Incident Details
During an arrival, the pilot noted an 'X' displayed on Runway 35, indicating the runway was closed. The pilot then transitioned to a downwind leg for Runway 33. At that time, the windsock showed a direct left crosswind for the 1,860-foot turf runway, which had a fence across its approach end.
Sequence of Events
The aircraft touched down approximately 400 to 500 feet down the runway. After touchdown, it continued off the departure end, went through the fence, and encountered uneven terrain, resulting in damage to the aircraft.

The pilot reported that braking was ineffective on the turf runway. Additionally, after the accident, the pilot noted that the wind had shifted to the southeast.
