Accident Sequence
According to the pilot's report, during the takeoff roll a wind gust caused the left wing to rise and the airplane to veer to the right. The pilot immediately applied left aileron and rudder inputs, but the controls were ineffective. The airplane departed the runway, struck a tree and a fence, and subsequently came to rest with its nose in a drained swimming pool.
Environmental Conditions
Weather observations at the time indicated wind from the northwest at 25 knots, gusting to 30 knots. The maximum demonstrated crosswind capability for the airplane is 17 knots, indicating that the crosswind component during the accident exceeded this limit.
Aircraft Information
No preimpact mechanical malfunction or failure was reported. The aircraft had no known issues that would have contributed to the loss of control.
