Event Description
A student pilot landed the aircraft and allowed it to slow before applying brakes. The student reported that the aircraft then began veering to the right side of the runway. Attempts by both the student and a certified flight instructor to correct the situation were ineffective. The aircraft subsequently departed the right side of the runway, made a sharp right turn, and descended down sloping terrain. The nose gear then collapsed and the aircraft nosed over inverted.
Aircraft Examination
Inspection of the brake system revealed a leaking hydraulic line 90-degree fitting at the brake. The system had been inspected 10 months and 103 flight hours prior to the accident.
