Incident Details
A pilot was performing a local flight to verify repairs to the aircraft's cabin pressurization system. According to the report, the aircraft had descended from 8,500 ft MSL to 2,000 ft MSL when the engine began cutting out. Unable to maintain altitude to return to the departure airport, the pilot initiated a forced landing.
The aircraft touched down in a soft field, and upon touchdown, the nose wheel collapsed, causing the aircraft to nose over.
Examination Results
Post-accident examination of the engine revealed that approximately 24 ounces of fuel were drained from the fuel system. The fuel tanks were found to be intact with no signs of leakage. No mechanical failure or malfunction was reported.
The investigation did not identify any mechanical issues that would have caused the engine power loss. The fuel quantity recovered from the system suggests that fuel starvation may have occurred, but the source does not explicitly state that as a cause.
