Flight Information
The left front seat was occupied by a pilot who had not flown in ten years. The right front seat was occupied by the owner, who was also a student pilot. According to the left-seat pilot, the purpose of the flight was to familiarize him with the aircraft so that he could become current and qualify for his biennial flight review. The owner stated that the left-seat pilot had just agreed to purchase the aircraft.
Event Sequence
The aircraft was landed with excess airspeed, resulting in a hard bounced landing. A loss of control was imminent. The left-seat pilot requested the owner/student pilot to take command of the aircraft. The student pilot took control and elected to go around.
During the attempted go-around, the student pilot raised the nose of the aircraft too high, leading to a loss of airspeed with a high angle of attack. A departure stall resulted, and the aircraft struck the ground off the departure end of runway 34.
