Accident Details
A student pilot was conducting a touch-and-go landing on runway 27. After touchdown, the pilot retracted the flaps and applied full power to initiate a takeoff. Shortly after power application, the aircraft began to veer to the left.
Pilot Actions
The certified flight instructor (CFI) instructed the student to apply right rudder as the aircraft veered left. Despite the student's input, the aircraft continued turning left. The CFI then attempted to apply right rudder herself, but the aircraft did not respond. Subsequently, the aircraft departed the runway surface and entered a ditch.
The student pilot reported that he did apply right rudder, but the aircraft failed to respond to his control input. A light to moderate westerly wind was reported at the airport at the time of the accident.
Aircraft Examination
Following the accident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) examined the aircraft. No evidence of any mechanical malfunction or failure was found.
