Landing Attempts
A pilot was landing at a private airstrip to the north with a tailwind. Trees located on the north end of the runway precluded landing to the south into the wind. The pilot made three attempts to land on the 1,754 ft runway. Witnesses reported that a 7-12 knot tailwind existed and that all three attempts were too fast.
Third Attempt and Impact
According to the pilot, on the third attempt, he forced the aircraft to touch down and it bounced. He initiated another go-around. The aircraft subsequently impacted the 60 ft high trees at the north end of the runway, stalled, rolled right, and fell to the ground. Witnesses reported that the aircraft did not touch down until about midfield on the third attempt.
