Event Description
Shortly after departing, the aircraft suffered a loss of engine power. The pilot executed a forced landing that touched down 200 feet before the runway threshold. During the event, the pilot indicated to investigators that fuel pressure had been lost.
Post-Accident Examination
Following the occurrence, the engine and fuel pump were inspected and no discrepancies were found. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) examined the fuel remaining aboard the aircraft and reported that it exhibited the smell and appearance of automotive gasoline.
Fuel Information
The pilot was unable to recall to the FAA either the type of fuel that had been used or when the aircraft had last been refueled. The aircraft did not possess a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) authorizing the use of auto fuel for its operation.
