What happened
During a nighttime approach to land, the pilot observed orange ball markers on a powerline obstructing the flight path. To clear the obstruction, the pilot increased engine power and flew over the wires. Immediately after clearing the line, the pilot reduced power in preparation for landing. This maneuver caused the aircraft to stall at a low altitude short of the runway threshold.
The impact resulted in the nose gear breaking off. The airplane slid approximately 200 feet along the ground before coming to rest. While exiting the aircraft, the pilot and a passenger observed a small fire developing under the nose section. Within ten minutes of the initial impact, the aircraft burned completely.
