What happened
Just prior to the accident, witnesses observed the aircraft flying at a low altitude over a creek. The observers reported that the aircraft entered a steep climbing left turn from an altitude of approximately 40 feet above ground level (AGL) to about 75 feet AGL. Following this maneuver, the aircraft entered a steep descent and crashed into the creek.
The investigation
No engine problems or changes in engine sound were noted before impact. An examination of the wreckage revealed no preimpact mechanical problems.
