Event Description
A pilot reported that while en route to West Palm Beach, the aircraft encountered severe turbulence. During the turbulence, the aft cabin door popped open but remained attached to the aircraft. The flight continued to its destination and landed without further incident.
Subsequent Issues
Following the landing, the pilot attempted to restart the engines for the return trip to Tampa. The left engine would not start. Another aircraft was flown in to allow the pilot to complete the trip. The original aircraft was subsequently repaired and flown back to Tampa.
Post-Flight Findings
After landing in Tampa during daylight hours, inspection revealed that both forward wing attach fittings were distorted and pulled away from the fuselage. No other damage or injuries were reported in the source.
