Flight Purpose
The flight was conducted to satisfy an insurance requirement that the aircraft owner receive 10 hours of dual instruction in the aircraft.
Aircraft Configuration
The dual controls had been removed, and the sole control column was located on the left side. The landing gear was down, and the flaps were extended at the time of the event.
Observed Maneuver
The aircraft was observed in a clockwise flat spin until impact.
Post-Impact Findings
After the accident, examination revealed the left engine was at full power, while the right throttle was in the idle position and the right propeller control was in the feather position. The right propeller was against the start lock pins. No mechanical malfunctions were found.
Pilot Experience
The certified flight instructor (CFI) was occupying the right seat and had accumulated only 0.5 hours of flight time in Beech 95-B55 aircraft. Federal Aviation Regulations prohibit a CFI from acting as pilot-in-command in a multiengine aircraft without dual controls installed.
