Accident Overview
A fully loaded agricultural aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff. Witnesses reported that the aircraft appeared unable to climb out of ground effect. About 1.5 miles from the airstrip, the pilot began a turn back to the north. Unable to climb, he initiated action to dump his chemical load, but was unable to clear power lines. Subsequently, the aircraft crashed inverted in a flooded rice field.

Witnesses stated that after takeoff, the aircraft seemed unable to gain altitude. They also reported that the engine sounded normal during the flight. No powerplant or control system malfunction was found.

Above normal temperature and humidity resulted in an above normal density altitude, which likely affected the aircraft's climb performance.
Pilot and Aircraft Status
The pilot suffered toxic chemical contamination and was taken to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported. The aircraft was extensively damaged in the crash.
