Accident Details
A pilot flying a general aviation aircraft from a private grass airstrip experienced a failed climb-out. The aircraft did not gain sufficient altitude to clear obstacles located at the departure end of the strip. It subsequently collided with trees, fell to the ground, and caught fire, resulting in its destruction.

At the time of the accident, the temperature was 96 degrees Fahrenheit, as reported by an observation facility in Saginaw, Michigan, approximately 15 nautical miles northeast of the accident site. The pilot remarked that the accident may have been prevented by waiting until the temperature cooled down before departing.
