Incident Overview
A pilot attempting to start an airplane found that the engine would not turn over. In response, he decided to rotate the propeller manually. The pilot reported that before doing so, he turned off the magneto, master, and alternator switches. These actions took place after the airplane had been positioned inside a hangar without wheel chocks or being tied down.
Sequence of Events
After the pilot hand-propped the engine, it started successfully. The airplane then began to move and taxied into a garbage container and subsequently into the hangar door. The pilot was unable to regain control of the airplane and, during his attempts to do so, suffered a fractured arm.
Aftermath
The pilot sustained a fractured arm as a result of the incident. No other injuries or damage to the aircraft were reported in the source.
