Event Summary
After departing, the pilot reported that the landing gear failed to retract. He attempted to cycle the gear several times. Subsequently, he turned off the panel lights, and the landing gear down-and-locked indicator light illuminated.
Pilot Actions
The pilot then flew the aircraft past the control tower for a visual check of the gear. Tower personnel confirmed that the gear appeared extended. The pilot returned for landing. He stated that during the approach, he reduced power and no warning horn sounded. The aircraft touched down normally, but during the landing roll, the landing gear collapsed.
Post-Accident Examination
An inspection after the incident found no reason for the gear collapse. Investigators could not determine why the gear failed.
Owner's Handbook Information
The aircraft owner's handbook noted that the landing gear indicator lights would dim when the navigation lights were on.
