What happened
The flight instructor pilot reported that during a routine landing approach in calm wind conditions, the aircraft's indicated airspeed appeared higher than normal for the configuration. Recognizing the excessive speed, the instructor initiated a go-around procedure to abort the landing.
During the climb-out phase of the go-around, the aircraft failed to achieve sufficient altitude gain. It subsequently struck overhead wires, which caused the aircraft to lose control and cartwheel through the air before coming to rest on an unoccupied house trailer.
The investigation
A thorough examination of the wreckage was conducted to determine the mechanical status of the aircraft prior to impact. Investigators found no evidence of pre-impact part failure or any malfunction of the aircraft's systems that would have contributed to the accident.
