What happened
The incident occurred during the final phase of flight as the airplane was completing its landing roll. At a ground speed between 15 and 20 miles per hour, the aircraft began to drift toward the right side of the runway. The pilot attempted to maintain directional control using rudder input alone; however, this control surface proved insufficient to counteract the deviation.
To correct the trajectory, the pilot applied the wheel brakes. Shortly after brake application, the airplane nosed over and came to rest in an inverted position. Both pilots involved reported that they felt one of the brakes had locked up during the maneuver, which likely contributed to the sudden pitch-up and subsequent rollover.
The investigation
Following the accident, an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic conducted a thorough examination and functional test of the braking system. Despite the pilots' observation of a potential brake lock, the mechanical inspection found no discrepancies or malfunctions within the braking assembly that would explain the event.
