Accident Details
During the final approach to a private dirt runway following an aerial application mission, the pilot encountered a crosswind and lowered the right wing to counteract the drift. As the aircraft touched down, the low-hanging right-wing spray boom struck tall vegetation bordering the runway. This caused the airplane to pivot abruptly and subsequently collide with terrain in a nose-down attitude.
Post-Impact Fire
The force of the impact ruptured the fuel tanks, and the released fuel ignited. The resulting fire consumed the aircraft. The pilot, who survived the accident, later stated that there were no mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane prior to the event.
