Incident Overview
A pilot reported that during a flight from Newcastle, Wyoming, to Casper, Wyoming, one fuel tank ran dry. The pilot then turned to follow a road. Subsequently, the second fuel tank also ran dry. The pilot elected to perform a forced landing on the road.
Maneuvering and Collision
While maneuvering to avoid a pickup truck on the road, the pilot executed a course reversal and attempted to line up on the road headed in the opposite direction. However, the pilot was unable to complete the turn, and the aircraft sustained substantial damage during the landing roll across the highway.
