Event Description
According to the pilot, during the landing the airplane touched down softly on the main gear. However, when the nose wheel touched the runway surface, the airplane pulled sharply to the left. The pilot attempted to correct the movement, but the airplane departed the left side of the runway and entered brush.
Investigation Findings
An FAA investigation examined the landing site. Tire marks on the runway indicated that the airplane had touched down on the left main gear and began moving left immediately thereafter. The FAA conducted an inspection of the landing gear, brakes, flight controls, airframe, and engine. No discrepancies were found in any of these systems.
