Accident Overview
Two Beech F33A aircraft, registered as N6486N and N5519A, collided on the ground at the Mobile, Arizona airport. The aircraft were involved in two supervised solo instructional flights conducted by the Airline Training Center in Goodyear, Arizona, as part of the Lufthansa Airlines pilot training program.
Sequence of Events
According to the investigation, N5519A had landed on the runway and subsequently pulled off onto the parallel taxiway, where it stopped to complete the post-landing checklist. Meanwhile, N6486N landed on the same runway and exited at the high-speed turnoff, where it collided with N5519A.
Pilot Statement
The pilot of N6486N reported that he was traveling too fast when he turned off the runway and was unable to stop behind N5519A as intended.
