What happened
The aircraft experienced an unexpected cessation of engine power while maneuvering. During the subsequent landing roll, the right wing separated after colliding with a tree. The impact resulted in significant structural damage to that portion of the airframe.
The investigation
Post-accident examination focused on determining the root cause of the engine failure and potential fuel system issues. Investigators checked the remaining fuel supply for contaminants; none were found. The engine was subsequently started and tested, where it was found to operate normally.
Findings
Due to the nature of the impact and subsequent damage, no determination could be made as to the reason for the loss of engine power. Additionally, no determination could be made if the fuel supply was contaminated at the time of the incident. The investigation concluded without identifying a definitive mechanical failure or environmental cause for the initial power loss.
