Incident

During a touch and go landing, the airplane initiated a takeoff roll. Shortly after beginning the roll, the airplane started to drift left. The Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) instructed the student pilot to apply right rudder to correct the drift, but the airplane continued its leftward movement.

Sequence of Events

The runway in use at the time was Runway 08. According to the CFI, the winds were from 360 degrees at 10 knots. When the student's input did not correct the drift, the CFI applied right rudder. However, the airplane then pivoted onto the grass adjacent to the runway. The airplane nosed over in the grass and came to rest upside down.
