What happened
According to the pilot's account, the incident occurred shortly after the aircraft departed the runway. At an altitude of approximately 10 to 20 feet above ground level, the engine experienced a sudden reduction in performance, losing roughly half of its available power. Unable to maintain flight, the airplane descended rapidly and impacted the ground with significant force.
The impact caused one of the main landing gear struts to collapse. The energy of the crash also resulted in the wings striking the ground, leading to substantial structural damage to the airframe.
The investigation
Following the accident, investigators examined the aircraft to determine the root cause of the power loss. A thorough mechanical inspection was conducted on the engine and related systems. The examination revealed no defects or malfunctions that could be considered causal factors for the reported loss of power.
