Incident Description
The pilot of a Cessna 177 was conducting a northbound aerial observation flight. While looking down inside the cockpit to look up a frequency, he diverted his attention from the outside. Upon looking out again, he observed a Cessna 152 approximately 100 yards off his front right side, converging at the same altitude. The pilot of the Cessna 177 initiated evasive action, but the left wheel of his aircraft struck the left wing of the Cessna 152, causing the outer wing panel to break off. The Cessna 152 subsequently lost control, spiraled to the left, and crashed. The Cessna 177 sustained damage but landed safely. The exact location, date, and time of the incident were not specified.
Aircraft Damage
The Cessna 152's left wing outer panel was broken due to the impact from the Cessna 177's left wheel. The Cessna 152 crashed after losing control, resulting in substantial damage. The Cessna 177 landed with damage to its left wheel area but remained controllable and landed without further incident.
