Incident Overview
A pilot reported that during cruise flight, the engine began to sputter and subsequently quit. The pilot executed a forced landing on a golf course. During the landing rollout, the aircraft collided with trees.
Post-Accident Examination
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspectors responded to the accident site. Their examination of the aircraft revealed that the fuel tanks contained no fuel. However, a fuel line was found ruptured near the bottom of the fuselage. Airworthiness inspectors also examined the engine and reported no mechanical malfunctions or failures.
Pilot's Statement
The pilot stated that the loss of engine power was due to a partially blocked fuel vent line, which prevented the fuel tank from properly venting to the atmosphere. This blockage allegedly led to fuel starvation, causing the engine to quit.
